I have a very sensitive sense of smell and I didn't smell anything at all.The colors are beautiful. I still can't give them 5 stars based on the rug being defective, and the problem with the return, but I am happy I finally received my money back.Buyer beware! I purchased the round animal print rug. When I received it, I put it on my floor and found it wouldn't lay flat. The edges buckled up and item appeared defective. I requested a refund, sent the item back, and the company is claiming the rug was returned used. They sent a picture with a mark on the rug that I did not put there. The rug was NOT used, and they would only return half of my money. The rug was defective--I would suggest not purchasing from this company!I like the quality it's durability and the colors.Maybe I got a “rejected” rug. I was expecting it to have color variations (browns, blacks, whites) and texture variations (looks like puzzle pieces in the pic, thought the different sections would be clearly defined, like “chunks”). The rug I received is one large carpet in shades of brown/taupe with a solid surface....very ordinary. The pattern is nice, but it is not the design I was expecting based on the pictures; the material is durable though.Very well made.
